Corn Capital Theatre Presents "Farce of Habit"
Set at the Reel ’Em Inn, a quiet little fishing lodge in the Ozarks, Farce of Habit follows D. Gene Wilburn—a man who desperately wants one peaceful weekend on the lake and absolutely will not get it.
His world is already cracking: his son Ty’s marriage to Jenna is falling apart in spectacular fashion, while his wife Wynelle is attempting to quit caffeine cold turkey… with increasingly terrifying results. Meanwhile, his sister Roxie is lurking around the lodge on a suspicious “undercover mission” that no one fully understands—and no one should trust.
And then the guests arrive.
A group of nuns shows up under questionable circumstances. An over-the-top, self-proclaimed “marriage guru” inserts himself into everyone’s business with wildly unhelpful advice. A painfully shy retiree is attempting his very first vacation without much luck. And two mysterious women check in who clearly are not who they claim to be.
As tensions rise and secrets unravel, a massive storm traps everyone at the lodge—and rumors of an axe murderer begin to swirl. What follows is a full-blown farce: mistaken identities, outrageous behavior, romantic disasters, and nonstop chaos as everything collides at once.
By the end, no relationship is safe, no secret stays hidden, and D. Gene’s dream of a quiet fishing trip is completely, hilariously destroyed.
